Natural stone flooring is a major investment, and it needs the right care to stay protected.

Marble, travertine, slate, granite, flagstone and other natural stone surfaces are porous, which means they can absorb spills and stains more easily than other flooring materials. Once that happens, stains can be difficult to remove. In some cases, they may even be permanent.

That’s why regular cleaning and sealing are so important. Sealing helps protect natural stone from staining, but it does not last forever. Over time, traffic, mopping and regular cleaning can wear the sealant down. Mopping can also leave buildup in grout lines and chemical residue on the stone itself.
